Rainout Policy
On days when playing conditions are questionable, every effort will be made to provide information on the home page of our website, as well as on the league Facebook page and via mass email.
If no notice appears on the website or Facebook page, or you have not received an email from the league, assume that the field conditions are playable and that your game will proceed as scheduled.
In many cases, the decision to play or not is very much a game time decision. Generally, games are not postponed for light rain and/or moderate cold; but heavy rain and/or unsafe and unplayable field conditions that cannot be remedied will require postponement.
Play/no play decisions are in the hands of the Board of Directors until a game is started. Once a game commences, start/stop decisions are at the sole discretion of the umpires.
A play/no play decision is never at the discretion of a manager or coach. A manager or coach withdrawing their team from a game prior to an official decision will result in automatic forfeiture, with the score reverting to a final of 1-0 in favor of the opposing team. This is not negotiable.
How to determine the status of your game:
1. Check the website and Facebook page
2. Check your email
3. Team managers only: check with the league coordinator
4. Players: check with your team manager.
If there is no information posted on the website or Facebook page, if you have not received an email from the league or you haven't been contacted by your coach, assume that your game will be played.
When in doubt, come on out!
Reschedule Policy:
In the event that a game is postponed, MELL will reschedule the game for the first Wednesday following the cancellation/postponement. In the event a time slot is not available on the following Wednesday, the game will be rescheduled for play on either Saturday or Sunday of the same week.
Every attempt will be made to play the make up game within the same week to ensure sufficient field availability in the event additional games are postponed prior to the conclusion of the regular season.
